Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin
FRANCE: RHONE VALLEY -SOUTHERN - CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE
WA98Size1.5LVintage2004SKU7202
The potentially perfect 2004 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin has turned out to be just an amazing wine and one of the profound examples of this cuvee the Perrins have produced. It certainly has all the power, density, and richness of the great years, but there is almost a surreal elegance and lightness for a wine this powerful and dense. Almost difficult to describe, the gorgeous multi-layered texture, and the heavenly perfume of smoked meats, flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and truffles is a knock-out. 98 pts Wine Advocate (2004)Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin

The 2003 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin has turned out even better than I thought last year. Black purple to the rim, with an extraordinary nose of smoke, camphor, blackberry, cassis, sweet cherry, white flowers, licorice, and Chinese black tea, the wine has superb richness, huge tannins, massive concentration, and a monster finish. 95 pts Wine Advocate (2003)G. Huet Vouvray Moelleux Le Haut Lieu
FRANCE: LOIRE VALLEY - VOUVRAY

To anyone who knows Vouvray, Huet needs no introduction. This estate enjoys a reputation second to none. The wines originate from three superb individual vineyards: Le Haut Lieu, Clos du Bourg and Le Mont. Le Haut Lieu, surrounding the late Mr Huet's home, was already considered one of the best vineyard sites in the region as early as the 15th century. The resulting wines are very special. Sometimes austere and closed when young these wines age beautifully. They are the expression of the Chenin Blanc at its best. The sweet wines from the great vintages are the stars. They may be kept for 50 years or more and still show their gorgeous honey botrytised flavours over layers of rich unctuous fruit.G. Huet Vouvray Moelleux Le Haut Lieu

Rich and unctuous, there is texture and power but the wine is not overly sweet as any residual is beautifully balanced with bright, cleansing acidity. There was plenty of botrytis in '45 and this gives the wine a wonderfully spicy, savoury edge. Great length and endless complexity. A once in a lifetime experience.Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin

Thoroughly primal, with a torrent of raspberry and boysenberry fruit rushing forth. Only shows hints of its full range, with licorice, incense, graphite and mocha flavors fluttering in the background. Has an iron-clad structure, with a long finish that shows great cut and grip. Best from 2009 through 2025. 96 Points Wine Spectator (2005)Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin
